Celebrity Hijack: First Impressions

From what I expected to be the same old turn of events from Endemol actually transpired to be a enjoyable show! Big Brother Celebrity Hijack did not fail to deliver. Even before the contestants were added it was easy to note the few things which definitely give the show a extra 'edge' The addition of Dermot O'Leary as the main host is refreshing and is a welcome (and needed!) change from Davina who has been presenting since day one when it all began. The Colour scheme and Graphics used in the program, though far from perfect, did create good transitions and were easy on the eye then last summer’s version. And then followed the contestants....

Undoubtedly the best highlight of the night was Johns entry and subsequent control by the hijacker Matt Lucas. I felt sorry for John as he was forced to undertake all those humiliating tasks and say those horrible things to other people. Even though it was cruel, especially for John knowing that all of the UK & Ireland viewers were watching him, you'd have to admit it made for great TV entertainment which got away from the typical manifested drama and argument that we have become so accustomed to when watching big brother. John appears to us as a trustworthy character and was perfect for playing out the role he was given last night!

This year’s bunch were a little different than the normal range we are used to, ranging from boxers to singer/song writers and everyone  in between. I'm not liking Amy so far, her compulsive cleaning and organizational habits as shown in the VT before she entered were slightly disturbing, if not a bit eccentric. Her personality has not been that warm to the others up until this point and only time will tell how she gets on

The next group of people that brought a smile to my face were the circus crowd, Victor & Emilia, nice people who completely took away my typical thinking of what 'Circus Performers' would be. They seem like decent folk so far and I hope it stays that way for them. However, Laytoa came across as a little too competitive and vain with too much competition in her veins for my liking. As for Nathan, I'm not sure, I feel that there’s more to him than meets the eye.....

Has Big Brother Returned to Supremacy? The answer is yes...and I won’t be turning off anytime soon. The only drawback to this edition is that it’s all on E4 as opposed to Channel 4, but nevertheless it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on ;)
