Ping Pong! Balls of Fury....just another fad movie?
Now as we all know there has been a sudden surge of these aw-haw-haw that's funnnny movies. You all know the ones where they take the piss out of life and how amazingly unfortunate events occur...again...and...again.

Also have you noticed they all seem to have the same actors in them? Like Knocked Up and Superbad? Bizarre.

Anyway, this may appear to be another one of these films just deliberate staged unfortunate comedy. It is.

However I wouldn't completely put a downer on this movie. I have a rule, or just something I like to say. If you're going to do something silly, you might as well go the whole way. So I like the fact that it's about ping pong. Sure even the word...ping pong is silly. Never once did I hear table tennis!

A slightly flimsy film, not much nourishment for the mind now. But if you want a bit of a laugh, it has its moments.

From the blind Chinese ping pong master to the slightly camp Christopher Walken who plays Feng. A crime lord who takes fashion lessons from Elton John. I have to say, I've never seen such a glamourous side to ping pong.

Completely outrageous, it has some soft satire on stereotypes who play in the ultimate competition of sudden death (quite literally!). The evil blonde hair blue eyed German, the knife wielding Japanese and the basketball player look-a-like Canadian! It is again, your harmless teenage slapstick humour. So if you know you don't like that style...I suggest you avoid it.

I liked this movie, it made me laugh. Always a good thing in my books. I felt it had a bit more of a gut to it as well compared to Superbad that just seemed to trail off a bit in places.

It's well structured and sticks to what it's about.

I'd give it a 6/10

Just remember....it's a bit of nonsense!
