Who's in the running for this years Oscars?
Well, the nominations have been announced and it's no surprise to see that "No Country For Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood" Lead the nominations with eight nominations apiece.

The big question now though is what form the ceremony itself will actually take. The normally start studded event is scheduled to take place on the 24th of February in Los Angeles, but with no end in sight for the writers strike I can't see it taking it's normal format.

Another movie showing well in the nomination count is Atonement which has seven nominations. Strangely it has been nominated for best picture yet the movies main stars James McAvoy and Kiera Knightly got no nominations.

Cate Blanchett is having a good year with both a best actress nomination for her portrayal of Elizabeth and best supporting actress for her role in the Bob Dylan movie "I'm Not There".

Also in the Best Supporting Actress category is thirteen year old Irish Actress Saoirse Ronan for her role in Atonement. Apparently she has said that the nomination is a great honour and is planning to bring her parents to the ceremony. There's a fine Irish Lass for you!
