Oxegen 2008
With this years Oxegen festival kicking off with an extra day. Music fans who are camping that have the 4 day camping ticket can head down on the 10th of July to set up camp and to get the best spots.
Oxegen 08 kicks off the music on the 11th - 13th as each year there is more and more demand for it.
Oxegen 07 was my first time being there and one word describes the whole festival that is "outstanding". There is just non stop craic, great atmospheres wherever your campsite is. Even though last years was the worst weather for it, it still didn't put a downer on the fans and artists performing.
The mud was literally half a meter deep, everywhere you looked there was either someone on the ground covered in mud after falling over or people trying to get across on toy plastic cars and also trolleys. A great sight to see.
Few things you might need to consider for Oxegen 08
1. Bring waterproof trousers and jackets and wellies. You never know with Irish weather.
2. Leave valuables and good clothing at home. Trust me it will get ruined.
3. Get a good size tent. Your mates our bound to crash there so make sure theres room and its waterproof.
4. Id.
5. Food and money if you get a bit hungry.
You might also need a map of the area because people do get lost and cant find there way back to their tent area.
Last years line up was released around February and onwards. You can be sure over the next few weeks that some of the bands and artists will be announced from then onwards.
The first band that has officially been announced by Oxegen is Kings Of Leon. Kings Of Leon were one of the bands that was voted one of the top bands fans wanted to see play at Oxegen. All that there is now is speculation of people guessing of who will play.
Not only is there music but also Comedy and Fairground with small rollercosters. Not sure if this will be there again but id say it will be. The Comedy tent is for fans to get away a bit from the acts performing and to hear some of Irelands great comedians doing what they do best. Theres also a disco hall too, for the wild side of you to get in and start dancing showing everyone your moves on the hall dance floor.
The bus journey down is also a great laugh, it may seem long when you hear the time it takes but with a few of your pals and other festival goers the time does fly by. Everyone chanting and singing will get you in great humour for the journey and the festival itself.
If you have never been i would very much advise you to consider going as its a great few days and alot of fun and not only that but you get to see many of your favourite bands perform live infront of you on stage for as little as under €200 for the whole festival. To me that is certainly a bargain.
